How long does it take to implement Slovak e-invoicing software before the 2027 deadline?

Timelines vary by system complexity, but most implementations involving ERP integration, master data cleanup, and Peppol onboarding require several months rather than weeks. The voluntary testing window through 2026 exists precisely for this reason. Can foreign companies without a Slovak establishment ignore the e-invoicing mandate?

For now, largely yes. Foreign businesses without a permanent establishment in Slovakia remain outside the domestic obligation until 30 June 2030. From 1 July 2030, cross-border intra-Community transactions come into scope under the EU ViDA framework, so foreign trading partners should plan for that horizon.

What happens to invoices already exchanged through the IS EFA system?

IS EFA, the platform operating for public sector invoicing since 2023, is being replaced by the new Peppol-based national infrastructure expected in 2027.
